Taking a summer job as a swimming instructor at Ocaquatics completely changed how I see the world, even long after my shifts end. Being a supervisor and manager has taught me to constantly scan the water, and that habit never really turns off. Whether I'm at a crowded beach, a backyard pool party, or just hanging out on my day off, I naturally catch the small signs of a child in trouble before anyone else notices. It was supposed to be just a quick summer gig, but it ended up shaping my whole life and that of the ones around me as well. Now, I'm able to keep kids safer in everyday moments and spread the word about how crucial water safety really is.
