i would say one of the biggest impact stories happened a long time ago, but something today reminded me that actions speak louder than words, and that being kind and present really makes a difference.
last year, one of the parents of our students passed away. i had recently started at the kendall location, but i knew this dad because i had seen him on sundays swimming with ms claudia. it was a very tragic moment for the family.
mom informed ms mayra, and she let the managers know. ms rosa, ms mayra, and i , and a few other team members went to the funeral, even if it was just for a couple of minutes, to show our support. later, ms rosa also helped the family with all the mu’s.
the family stopped coming for a couple of months, but eventually they came back. during that time, ms mayra was very supportive to mom, and every time she comes to the location she mentions how grateful she is for all the help she received, especially from ms mayra, who was always there for her.
now mom swims on sundays, and she often says how much it meant to her that the team and ocaquatics were there during such a difficult moment. she went through a very hard time, but she always says she is grateful that her son’s swim school supported her and showed their true colors.
sometimes a small action from us can go a very long way for someone else.
today, after we helped her with her last mu’s and enrolled her again, mom brought us pastelitos and said it was her oldest son’s idea. we wish them all the best! and by the way, her youngest son is doing a great job in the pool.
