FROM ANDREA: This story is about a team member who is no longer at my location but I love to recognize her for it: When Gypsy first joined Ocaquatics, she was hesitant to pick up shifts at different locations because she was an inexperienced driver and was nervous about navigating the highway. While she wanted to work more hours, the commute to unfamiliar locations felt like a significant barrier.
Seeing this, Claudia Chavez stepped in to help. On her own day off, Claudia met with Gypsy and drove the route to our Tropical location with her. By showing her the way and helping her get acquainted with the drive, Claudia gave Gypsy the hands-on support she needed to feel safe and prepared.
Because of Claudia’s help, Gypsy overcame her fear of driving to new locations. She picked up a fixed shift at Tropical on Thursdays. She recently shared that she is now comfortable working at any school where she is needed. This is a great example of how our team members support one another’s personal and professional growth.
FROM TATA: Ms. Claudia Chavez took it upon herself to support and guide Ms. Gipsy while she was serving as an Assistant Manager at the NW location. Not only did she help her improve her English so she could take the WSI class, but she also drove with her a few times to help her learn the route from her home to the Gables and Tropical locations.
Thanks to that support, Ms. Gipsy has been able to work and substitute at those locations. I believe Ms. Gipsy felt very supported and empowered by Ms. Claudia’s unconditional help.
